A Suprise For Daddy: Belton Photographer

A couple months ago, this mom emailed me and requested a “missing you” [organization name removed] session.  I love knowing that their daddy will be surprised to find an album in his mail.  It makes my heart happy to know that I’ll be sending a much needed pick-me-up during the holiday season when I know he wishes he could be home.

I loved these little girls.  Big sister is a sweetheart.  We walked holding hands. She gave me a hug.  I wasn’t “a stranger with a camera” at all to her.  Little sister was so funny.  Like most little siblings, she was all about copying what big sister does.  She ran up to me, waved around her little flag, and gave the best high fives.  I hope their mommy gave them lots of chocolate for being so sweet for me.

Thanks girls for having me take these pictures.  I can’t wait to see how much you’ve grown in a few months when we do the homecoming.

See you soon: Fort Hood Homecoming Photographer

I don’t like calling these ‘Goodbye’ sessions, even ‘pre-deployment’ sounds so stiff and sad. Maybe “Last Hurrah!” or something would sound better because these sessions are anything but sad! A pre-deployment family session isn’t about the upcoming emotions that military families will be feeling. It’s about the now. It’s about all the best memories and the fun times. It’s about remembering what the military member has to come home to.

I met this fun and very happy family at Chalk Ridge Falls for their session .  This mom has quickly became one of my favorite people around here.  I know she’s going to be a strong mother to these guys during the deployment.  I don’t know what it’s like to deal with deployment with older children but I know she can handle it.  My heart definitely goes out to them and I can’t wait to photograph the homecoming when it comes time.

Happy Homecoming: Photographer

Military homecomings are amazing to experience.  There’s a rush of excitement and emotion that I can’t get enough of.  I was so excited when this little family asked me to be their homecoming photographer.  These two little guys have been waiting for their daddy to come for so long.  In the time he was gone, the youngest learned to walk and I knew I had to capture him walking to his daddy for the first time.

Congratulations, B Family, on your homecoming!  Enjoy the photos!
