While the Katie Smith Photography studio is located in Mebane, you can be photographed anywhere. We routinely travel Durham to Greensboro but if you want to take a road trip to further location, a travel fee is required.

Consultation
Let’s discuss your vision for an unforgettable senior portrait experience. We’ll cover everything from location to wardrobe and how you’ll cherish these memories. While in-studio consultations are ideal, we offer the convenience of Zoom for busy seniors managing school, work, and sports commitments.
Photo Session
On your photo session day, come with energy! We’ll chat about high school memories and future plans while capturing natural, fun poses. I’ll guide you to avoid any awkward moments, but feel free to move and enjoy the process. The session is entirely tailored to you, typically lasting around 1.5 hours with multiple outfit and scene changes. When you’re ready to wrap up, we’re done!
Design Appointment
The exciting part is here—the big reveal! I’ve narrowed down the best photos, and now it’s your turn. Together, we’ll review the proofs, select your favorites, and decide on the perfect way to cherish these memories. Whether it’s a stunning wall print for Mom, a college-bound album for yourself, or wallet photos and graduation announcements, I’m here to guide you in creating the perfect portrait without the overwhelm of going it alone or getting lost in a Pinterest rabbit hole.

I always suggest bringing three outfits: a formal outfit, a casual outfit, and a time capsule outfit. Your time capsule outfit can be something trendy, pop culture-related, or just a fun outfit.
I offer sessions at my studio or on-location from Durham to Greensboro. During your consultation, we’ll discuss what kind of location fits with your personality and vision. From urban alleyways to the riverbanks, I have a selection of locations that I know look perfect in every season.
I don’t provide props instead I suggest bringing items that have significance to you. These items serve a dual purpose- the customize your session to you and it gives your hands something to hold, which helps relax many people. A few of the most common items are:
School-related props:
- Letterman jacket
- Class ring
- Sports equipment
- T-shirt or cap with your college logo
- Cap & gown
- Your prom attire
Personal life-related:
- Hobbies
- Car
- Favorite book
- Art supplies
- Favorite snacks or beverages
- Your dog
Most sessions average 1.5 hours but we won’t be watching the clock. Instead we go by your energy, as long as you’re having fun, we keep going.
Your proofs will be available within a week.
We’ll meet at my studio to review your images together. The process is easy and should take less than hour.
Our Signature Sessions have a $250 session fee, which includes the consultation, photo session, and design appointment. Prints and digital copies are sold separately, starting at $50 for an 8×10. You only purchase the images love in a way that works for your lifestyle and home. Most clients spend $750-1000 on their session.
Not looking for the full senior model experience? A Simplicity Session is a 30-minute session at my studio. Bring your favorite outfit and choose one of our classic backgrounds: white, black, or outdoors. Most clients select a Simplicity Session when they know they only need a few small prints or graduation announcements. Investment averages at $300.
With a focus on tangible reminders of this milestone, we offer a curated product line that includes albums, canvas, and framed prints.
For the senior, the most popular product is a custom-designed album that they’ll be able to take with them as they leave the nest. Wallet-size prints and web-ready digital copies make sharing their images with friends easy!
