I love sudden moments of inspiration. I’m not even sure what inspired me but last night, I got the idea that I wanted to do a vintage fishing session. Not wanting to feature my own sons, I sent a text to my friend and within a few minutes, we had planned this awesome playdate… ok, it was still technically a photo session but as far as the boys were concerned, it was probably one of the greatest playdates ever. On this beautifully sunshiny day, we tossed the kids in the car and headed to Chalk Ridge Falls. (Yep, three Chalk Ridge Falls session in a week. I can’t help it. I LOVE that place) We found a nice shallow spot and turned the kids loose. They had so much fun balancing on rocks, wading up to their knees, trying to catch “creepy crawlies” and running back and forth over the suspension bridge.
I love these photos so much. My friend has the greatest kids’ clothes and the suspenders and newsboy hat made this session. Of course, you can’t do a fishing session without a makeshift fishing pole made from a stick and string and you can’t do a vintage session without adding in a glass bottle of soda. While I don’t consider myself much of a prop photographer, the right props can truly set the scene for a fun, memorable photo session.
